Queens Memory Project
Queens Memory collects personal histories, photographs and other records of contemporary life in Queens to be stored in the Queens Library Archives.  Bring your photographs and documents to be archived using our portable digitization kit. Add your personal history to the history of Queens.

Workshop: Fair Housing
Come and learn what NYC residents can do when facing housing discrimination and about their fair housing rights. This workshop is presented by Queens Legal Services.

Chess and Board Games for Teens
Come and have a fun time learning the game of chess. You'll build critical thinking skills for real life situations. We'll also have Monopoly, checkers, dominoes and other fun board games.

Free on-site legal consultation provided by Catholic Migration Services, Queens Legal Services and Cidadao Global for immigration and housing legal matters.

Workshop: Information and Services for Immigrants
Learn about the current environment for immigrants, Know-Your-Rights in ICE raids, and emergency planning in case of detention and deportation. This workshop is presented by Queens Legal Hand.

Toddler Storytime
Bring your kids for a fun evening of reading, singing, and playtime. Intended for parents/caregivers and toddlers ages 2-3 years of age.

Panel Discussion: Community Safety
This panel will discuss important resources and services that everyone is entitled to access.  People can ask questions about safety issues.  The moderator is Tania Mattos, Co-founder of Queens Neighborhoods United.  Panelists include Eileen Reyes Arias, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, Detective Roberto Diaz, Hispanic Liaison for Immigrant Outreach Unit, Community Affairs Bureau, NYPD, Dr. Vladimir Gasca, Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health/Psychiatry, Elmhurst Hospital and Israel Rocha, CEO, Elmhurst Hospital

La Biblioteca Pública de Queens en colaboración con El Centro Cultural Barco de Papel extienden una invitación a participar en un evento donde, entre otros actos, tendrá lugar la presentación del libro "Pasajes" de la escritora argentina Mariana Graciano,  la representación del monologo "El Triste Olvido" del actor  Mexicano Juan Guzmán y el libro de  poesía “El arte de perder” del poeta Cubano Manuel Adrián López.

Queens Library, in partnership with Centro Cultural Barco de Papel, invites you to an evening presentation of the book “Pasajes” by the author, Argentinian Mariana Graciano, the monologue  “El Triste Olvido” by Mexican actor Juan Guzmán, and the reading of “The Art of Losing” by the Cuban poet Manuel Adrián López.

Join us for this animated feature that tells the story of an adventurous girl that finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets. Gather around the "bonfire" to sing songs and tell stories to celebrate the diverse cultures and people of Queens. Accompanied by a guitarist.

Board Games for Insomniacs
Can't sleep?  Join your fellow insomniacs or night owls for chess and board games. Challenge your friends and make new ones.

Sunrise Yoga
This class will help you to align your mind, body and breath. Feel free to bring a mat if you have one, or a towel if you don’t.  You can also sit in a chair if it’s difficult for you to get down on the floor. This class will provide a welcoming environment for all.

Stained Glass/Craft
After a long night, come welcome the sun by making colorful stained glass crafts using materials like tissue paper, markers, or crayons. Pick one of the available shapes or design your own.

Zumba Class
Wake up with an invigorating Zumba class! This class will provide a welcoming environment for all.

Community Partners Breakfast
Join us for a light breakfast of baked goods.  Meet and socialize with people from the community.

At this storytime, it's okay to be in your pajamas! Welcome the day with songs, dancing, and stories.

Panel Discussion: Creating an Inclusive City
The panelists will discuss how everyone can stand up for immigrants in today's political climate. Dennis M. Walcott, Queens Library President and CEO will moderate this panel.  Panelists include Kavita Pawria-Sanchez, Assistant Commissioner of NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs; Evthoxia Panos, Director Adult Literacy and Legal Immigration Services, HANAC; and Laura Gonzalez-Murphy, Director, NYS Office for New Americans.

Pokémon Craft
Do you want to be a Pokémon Master? See if you have what it takes with Pokémon Crafts at the library. Color Pokémon, make a Pokéball that contains a Pokémon, or even make a Pokémon bookmark.

SONES EN 3  (en Español)
Zenén Zeferino Huervo (canto y jarana) y sus músicos invitados: Juan Lucero (canto, zapateado y jarana) y Juan Carlos Marin (canto, bajo y requinto) ofrecen un proyecto de música tradicional de Veracruz, México que invita, a través de la música Jarocha, a toda la familia a bailar a cantar y disfrutar en compañía de las jaranas, requinto y Zapateado. Ven y conoce la música, los instrumentos,  la poesía y la danza de esta tradición.

Zenén Zeferino Huervo (vocals and jarana) and their guest musicians, Juan Lucero (vocals, dance and jarana) and Juan Carlos Marin (vocals, bass, and requinto), will offer an afternoon of traditional music from Veracruz, Mexico.  The entire family is invited to enjoy the traditions of the region while playing and dancing among their voices and their instruments.  Come and learn about the tradition of “Son Jarocho.”

Open Mic and Poems of Inclusion with Maria Lisella, Queens Poet Laureate
Queens Poet Laureate, Maria Lisella, and a group of poets of various ethnic backgrounds, add their voices to the public discourse around today’s climate which leaves many people in our communities feeling vulnerable and afraid. Through the power of poetic expression, we affirm that Queens Library is here for everyone, no matter where you come from, who you love or what you believe. Come and join us for an open mic format and read your own poem of inclusion. Readings by Hassanal Abdullah, Anthony Gloeggler, Jared Harél, Richard J.
