Providing Pregnancy Information for Everyone

Posted by Yves Etheart

If you’re thinking of starting or expanding your family, be sure to join us at our free Planning for Pregnancy Conference on Sunday, November 19 at Queens Central Library in Jamaica.

The day will be filled with pregnancy-related lectures, panel discussions, giveaways, opportunities to sign up for free classes, and more.

“Queens Library hosts regular prenatal classes, and we find that everyone who participates has different needs and interests,” said Tamara Michel, MPH, CLC, the Library’s Community Health Coordinator. “The goal of our Planning for Pregnancy conference is to look at some of the topics that folks frequently raise in those classes, and dive in a little deeper with guidance from local experts in the field.”

For instance, one of the conference’s panels will examine the many different pathways to parenthood, focusing on insemination and the legal issues surrounding family building, such as second-parent adoption. These topics are particularly relevant to members of the LGBTQIA community, and the conference’s planners have made sure to extend a warm welcome to LGBTQIA individuals and families, their allies, and all support people for those who are considering parenthood.

“No matter who you are or what path you take to build your family, we hope this conference will provide you with meaningful information to support you and the health of your loved ones,” Ms. Michel added.
